How Peel & Stick Wallpaper Can Add a Pop to Your Home Decor

If you haven’t jumped onto the peel-and-stick wallpaper bandwagon yet, we are going to give you a few reasons to get in on this expanding trend. And we will share some ideas for making it work for your home.

First, let's just agree that all peel and stick removable enhancements are not created equally. And there was a time in the very recent past where things like temporary peel and stick wallpaper was frowned upon as cheap, and maybe something for a college dorm or a kid’s room, but certainly not something you would display front and center in your home.

Things have most definitely changed. You can still get inexpensive- and sometimes temperamental- removable wallpaper and decals at any hobby store. AND you can also find premium “luxury”... yes LUXURY wallpaper. It’s a thing, and it’s gorgeous!!

We will cover fun DIY’s you should consider with peel and stick wallpaper starting from cheap and easy, all the way up to big, beautiful changes that can transform any room in your home.

 Let’s Start Small

—Small spaces and small budget— You can get some great inexpensive styles that are best used in small areas like bookshelves, or to cover a card table turned craft/sewing table and give it some serious character and cuteness. You can use it to decorate small areas, or to cover furniture pieces that might already be damaged or nicked. Teachers often use it in classrooms as bulletin board paper or to cover doors, outdated shelves, and cabinets and make them feel more homey. There are tons of creative ways to make a fun statement with budget friendly brands.

Take It Up a Notch

The more space you are going to cover, the more you are going to want to be willing to spend. The online site Spoonflower has great high-quality, woven peel and stick paper that’s tried and true, and beginner proof.

One project we looked at was the staircase transformation that turned white, scuffed lacquer into charming, time-tested design. The cool part about this wallpaper is the texture feels high-end, And it can stand up to everyday living and still look great. We don’t recommend you put it in the kitchen as a backsplash though because wet and greasy food stains are another animal entirely. And this beautiful wallpaper just can’t stand up to it… We tried.

However, you may want to look into the huge array of peel and stick backsplashes and tiles that are readily available online and in any home improvement store. And we recommend you stick to painting near any areas where cooking and cleaning greasy, aromatic foods will be taking place.

The Luxe Look

Like we said before, luxury peel and stick wallpaper IS a thing, and we highly recommend checking it out if you want to make a big statement that you can DIY and be proud of. The amount of textures and designs are limitless, and you can create a gorgeous space that makes your home feel like YOU. Check out retailers like Pottery Barn, Perigold, and Wayfair to get ideas that make a statement in your space.
